Handling Issues

If you have noticed your car is handling differently, such as a bumpy ride, pulling to one side, vibrating then there could be issues with steering, suspension or wheels.

Get it checked out by our skilled technicians so we can ensure your car is safe and easy to drive.

Overheating

When your engine overheats, it’s a sign that the cooling system isn’t working properly. This could be the result of various components such as leaking pipes in the radiator or as a result of a damaged head gasket.

Overheating can be responsible for serious problems such as fires or engine damage so it is important to get it checked out.

Electrical Repairs

Our experienced technicians can troubleshoot all types of electrical problems that you may be experiencing with your car.

We provide professional vehicle diagnostics to pinpoint the root cause, explain in detail, and can complete all repairs at competitive prices.

Electrical repairs can affect any of the electrical components of a vehicle including:

Alternator

Battery

Central Locking & Alarms

Lamps & Lighting

Sensor

Warning Lights

Wiring

Troubleshooting electrical problems via checking a car battery inside an engine to diagnose if electrical repairs are needed or changing the battery.

Common electrical issues we handle:

Alternator Faults

Generally, a dead battery, dim headlights and intermittent electrical performance are signs that your alternator isn’t working properly.

Accordingly, our technicians can repair or replace the damaged components within or connected to the alternator.

Battery Replacement

Batteries typically last 3-5 years, but can die sooner if frequently drained or exposed to extreme temperatures.

A dead battery will prevent your car from starting, so needs to be replaced immediately.

Ignition Issues

Ignition coil, spark plugs, and the fuel injector are responsible for supplying and igniting the fuel to the engine.

Failures to any of these will cause the engine to misfire or prevent the car from starting and therefore require replacing.

Lighting Problems

Headlights, indicators, brake lights and number plate lamps are legal requirements so if any aren’t working properly then they need to be resolved asap.

We diagnose and resolve any light issues and repair or replace the necessary parts.

Warning Lights

If any warning lights appear on your HUD that indicates a fault.

Hawk Motors has the expertise and technology necessary to perform diagnostics to discover the cause and then fix it.

Wiring Faults

Electrical wiring can be damaged by wear and tear, road debris, and accidents.

If the wiring is damaged, it can cause a variety of electrical problems. These include: lights that don’t work, power windows that don’t work, and engine misfires.

If you’ve encountered any electrical issues, i.e. warning lights illuminated on the dashboard, then contact us:

Diagnostics

Diagnostics (or ECU diagnostics) is a process of using a specialised diagnostic tool to scan a car’s computer system for any errors or fault codes. These codes identify the root cause of a problem with the car.

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) is the main car computer that controls many of the car’s systems. When there’s an problem with the ECU or the systems it controls the ECU stores an error code.

We at Hawk Motors have the experience and technology to analyse the computer codes, diagnose the issue and make the necessary vehicle repairs.

This ensures that Hawk Motors can carry out:

Accurate Diagnosis

Fast Diagnosis

Preventative Maintenance

Diagnostics of a vehicle engine to investigate possible faults or errors detected via the engine control unit (ECU).

Common problems identified via diagnostics:

Emission Problems

The catalytic converter is responsible for converting harmful emissions from the engine into less harmful emissions. When clogged, it can cause the engine to run rough and increase emissions.

Engine Misfires

An engine misfire is when one or more engine cylinders fail to fire properly… this causes loss of power, poor fuel economy, and increased emissions

Additionally, fuel injector faults can be diagnosed causing engine misfires.

Leaks

Leaks within engine systems can cause damage to the engine e.g. coolant leaks which can cause the engine to overheat.

Similarly, engine oil leaks can cause low oil pressure resulting in lack of lubrication to the engine creating wear and tear.

Sensor Faults

Cars have various sensors that ECU diagnostics scans.
One example:
A bad oxygen sensor won’t adjust the fuel mixture correctly, therefore the engine will run rough and increase emissions.

Suspension Problems

Suspension is responsible for keeping the car stable and smooth on the road.
When there’s a problem, it can cause the car the bounce, vibrate, or handle poorly.

Transmission Issues

Transmission transfers power from the engine to the wheels, in the event that there’s a problem it can cause stalling, loss of power or difficulty shifting.

Other Vehicle Repairs:

Don’t sweat it!

Hawk Motors has got you covered.

We provide unquestionably, top-notch air conditioning service for all makes and models of vehicles. Trust our skilled technicians to diagnose, repair, and maintain your car’s AC system. We ensure you stay cool and comfortable on the road in the long run, no matter the weather.

Why customers choose Hawk Motors?

We aim to save you money and time long-term:

Our Air-con Service:

We offer a service of your air conditioning to diagnose any faults, if it’s all looking good then we refill it.

If there is a fault with the air-con and it can’t hold its gas then we get in touch and endeavour to fix the problem before the cost of a refill.

Why it’s better than a re-gas:

A common problem we encounter from our competitors are cheap re-gas services that get your air-con up and running – now that sounds great but there’s a catch…
If your air-con has a fault such as a leak, then your going to need to refill/re-gas when it runs out (which could happen at anytime leaving your car unbearably hot in the summer or fogged-up screen unable to clear effectively in the winter).

Regular servicing of air-con ensures it holds the gas and extends its life through down months so that the only time your air-con doesn’t work as well is if there is an actual issue giving you peace of mind without the hassle of random refills.

Very friendly ,Very helpful and fast service. My Mazda had lost fuel pressure and I called them at 9am by 11:30 am they had diagnosed and the parts had been ordered. The garage was busy and they did me a real favour to get it done as soon as they could just before the bank holiday weekend.
I am very great full and I will be using them again for my services.

A few months ago on a particular busy Friday afternoon I had a problem with my brakes – which worried me because I’d only had a service the week before with a garage based up in Shirley Solihull.

With this garage in Solihull unable to see me until the following Monday I decided to try Hawk Motors instead – Paul (the owner) was very obliging and helpful; he said he’d take a look at my car later on that Friday afternoon.

Paul phoned me within the hour to advise me of costs and talk me through the required work (all done to my satisfaction).

Nice to finally find a really good reliable garage – I’ve been back there since for servicing and other stuff; very happy to recommend Hawk Motors 100% (Very happy to continue using them too !)
